"Together for 5" - a one-year program of providing teaching assistants for students with developmental disabilities. It was financed by the Ministry of Science and Education in the amount of HRK 474,738.75.
The project was implemented during the 2020/2021 school year. year, and the project partners were the City of Šibenik, Elementary School Meterize, Elementary School Faust Vrančić Šibenik and Elementary School Petar Krešimir IV.
The goal of including teaching assistants is to equalize the opportunities of students in order to ensure appropriate upbringing and education with a tendency to become independent in the school environment, that is, the establishment of equally high-quality educational conditions for all categories. By providing teaching assistants, a service was provided to help students with difficulties in completing tasks that require communication, sensory and motor activity of the students, help with movement, taking food and drinks, and performing hygiene needs during daily activities in the educational process.
As part of the project, the following goals were set and fulfilled:
1. Ensuring the inclusion of 10 teaching assistants in direct work with 10 students with developmental disabilities for the purpose of providing support during the educational process in the area of the City of Šibenik - as part of the project, 10 teaching assistants were employed for 10 students with developmental disabilities .
2. Raising awareness among representatives of local, regional self-government and competent institutions of the need to provide teaching assistants for students with disabilities in primary and secondary schools in the area of the City of Šibenik - continuously during the duration of the project.
With regard to the set goals, we ensured the following results: ensured conditions for inclusive education of students with developmental disabilities and inclusion of a larger number of children with developmental disabilities in the regular education system.
